HOW IT’S MADE
Standard Marble and Marblecast Series
Products manufactured in our Standard Marble and Marblecast colors are surfaced with a clear, non-porous, high quality polyester gelcoat that produces a sanitary and easy to clean finish. The marble material is a combination of 25% polyester resin and 75% calcium carbonate (ground marble). Veining and coloring are done by hand and each piece is different and unique. The Marblecast Series is produced with special veining techniques that more closely replicate the appearance of natural marble. These two series are available in a gloss or matte finish with an upcharge for matte. The colors in these series can be ordered with any of our three types of metal chips with the exception of our solid colors in the Standard Marble Series.
Granitcast Series
Granitcast products have no polyester gelcoat, but instead have a thick layer of composite solid surface material that is reinforced with our cast stone matrix. Granitcast is similar in composition and appearance to the national brand solid surface products. It is harder than polyester gelcoat and thus because it is a solid surface material with high durability and renewability can also be used for kitchen countertops. Granitcast items are available in a gloss or matte finish, and there is an upcharge for matte except on kitchen countertops where it is included in the price. Any of our three types of metal chips may be added to any of the Granitcast colors.
Granitestone Series
Granitestone is very similar to our popular Granitcast series in that it is an extremely durable composite solid surface material. This color series was placed in our line because of the popularity of the colors in our Granitcast series that have the larger stone chips. Granitestone has larger chips than any of our Granitcast colors. We have also included the option of adding any of the three types of metal chips to these colors. Samples are shown with our Deco Metal Flakes, but they can be excluded or substituted for one of our other types of metal chips.
Marblestone Series
Marblestone closely replicates the appearance of natural granite. The colors have stone chips (usually white, brown or black) with a colored vein. These color samples are shown with brass or silver mica chips, but these can be ordered with our other two types of metal chips or no metal chips at all. Marblestone is a blend of polyester gelcoat and solid surface material and it can be used for all our products with the exception of kitchen countertops. Marblestone’s performance is similar to our Standard Marble and Marblecast series. It is available in a gloss or matte finish.
Colors and Veining
Color samples should be used only as a guide in selecting colors. The raw materials we receive from our suppliers can vary from shipment to shipment, thus making it virtually impossible to duplicate colors from day to day. Veining patterns in cast marble products may also vary and will not be exactly consistent with sample pieces. The Marblecast Series, because of the veining technique used, is the most difficult to maintain consistency in color tone and veining. Granitcast colors, because of the materials used, are usually the most consistent but at times may vary slightly in color tone. We are advising you of this so you can advise your customer if you feel it necessary. Because color variation is common in all cast marble products and should be expected, it is not an acceptable reason for a product return.
